The dulcet Tellichery's geography is a frilled one which is adorned with four rivers, cannals, hills with orange hued rock and long scenic coastline. The innate which coniced to the town was Thalakachery, later on changed to Thalassery. And the anglicized name of Thalassery is Tellicherry.

The British established their presence in Kerala in 1682, when they obtained permission from Vadakklamkurr prince of Kolottunadu settle at Thalassery. During their period, these were many organized revolts held by the natives of the region against the empire.
